BEIJING, November 20 (Xinhua) — At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, King Tupou VI of Tonga will pay a state visit to China from November 21 to 27, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference on Thursday.
According to her, the upcoming state visit of King Tupou VI to China is the first in the last seven years and is of great importance for the development of bilateral relations.
The diplomat added that during the visit, the parties will conduct an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, as well as on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
Noting that Tonga is a good friend and reliable partner of China in the Pacific Islands region, Mao Ning said that China attaches great importance to its relations with Tonga and is willing to work with Tonga to take this visit as an opportunity to elevate bilateral relations to a new level. -0-
