Beijing, November 20 (Xinhua) — On Thursday, a China-Europe freight train loaded with 55 containers departed from the Ereenhot railway crossing in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region bound for Russia. This journey marks the 3,500th China-Europe freight train that has passed through the Ereenhot crossing since the beginning of 2025, according to a video report from China Central Television.

This is the first time and also a new historical high for this largest land checkpoint on the Chinese-Mongolian border since the launch of China-Europe freight train services here in 2013, in terms of the number of such trains handled by this border crossing in a year exceeding the 3,500 mark.

This year, new international rail freight routes between China and Europe were launched in succession at the Erenhot checkpoint: Wuhu-Moscow, Liulihe-Minsk, and Datong-Seryatino.

According to data, the annual number of China-Europe freight trains passing through the Ereenhot border crossing has exceeded 3,000 for three consecutive years. Since 2013, more than 21,000 such trains have passed through this border crossing.

As a reminder, the Ereenhot checkpoint is a key hub in the central corridor of international rail freight transport between China and Europe. Currently, 74 China-Europe rail routes pass through this checkpoint. These lines reach over 140 cities and stations in more than 10 countries in Asia and Europe. -0-
