Beijing, November 20 (Xinhua) — A specialized exhibition and fair of local products and trade cooperation talks were held in Kashi (Kashgar) in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) on November 18-19. The event aimed to deepen cross-border economic and trade cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to the Kashi District Convergent News Center, leading buyers from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan participated in the event. They held talks with local companies on agricultural and industrial products, giving new impetus to the development of the district's export-oriented economy.
As a key hub city within the Belt and Road Initiative, Kashi, thanks to its unique geographic location, has become China's vital gateway to the West. The event provided an effective platform for direct dialogue between Chinese and foreign enterprises. The program included presentations, a contract signing ceremony, and negotiations.
Company representatives in Kashi provided detailed information on production technologies, product quality, and competitiveness. Foreign buyers, in turn, shared information on market demand in their countries and their intentions for trade cooperation. This bilateral exchange effectively eliminated information barriers and laid a solid foundation of trust for future collaboration.
During the signing ceremony, contracts were signed for six cross-border projects. These projects cover the export and import of agricultural products, trade in specialized industrial goods, and other key areas. They involve numerous local agricultural and manufacturing enterprises in Kashi, as well as buyers and trade associations from Pakistan, Tajikistan, and other countries. The signed agreements are practical and targeted, outlining specific steps in developing trade and economic cooperation between Kashi and neighboring countries.
Mohammad Amin, a representative of Iran's Organization of Small and Industrial Parks in China, expressed confidence that Kashi will continue to attract increasing attention in the near future. Building on China's pilot free trade zone in Kashi, they can expand trade cooperation between Iran and Kashi. "Kashi in China will become a very promising market for Iran," he said.
Over 30 foreign professional buyers and trade associations were invited to the event to help local enterprises secure orders from foreign companies, provide them with more opportunities for direct access to international markets, promote market expansion, and deepen regional cooperation. This truly contributes to high-quality economic development and the modernization of industries such as specialized agriculture, cultural tourism, and processing trade.
“In the future, we will regularly organize similar specialized product promotion events and continue to establish connections for local businesses to facilitate their participation in external cooperation,” said Tong Peiting, Director of the Kashi City Investment Promotion Center.
