HANGZHOU, November 19 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong called for studying and applying the experience gained in the rural green revitalization program to promote the all-round development of rural areas to a new level.
Liu Guozhong, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the call at a national meeting to study and apply the experience of the green revitalization program for rural areas, which was held from Tuesday to Wednesday in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province (east China).
The Vice Premier of the State Council stated the need to make tireless efforts to comprehensively develop rural areas, emphasizing the importance of strengthening and improving rural governance, promoting sustainable growth in rural incomes, and creating high-quality living conditions in rural areas.
Liu Guozhong called for increasing grain production capacity, improving the quality and efficiency of specialized industries, and using regular targeted support measures to prevent a mass return to poverty.
In June 2003, Zhejiang Province launched the Green Village Revitalization Program, which aimed to modernize about 10,000 villages included in the program and turn about 1,000 of them into models for the comprehensive construction of a moderately prosperous society.
