Beijing, November 19 (Xinhua) — The introduction of a mutual visa-free regime between China and Russia is in the interests of the peoples of both countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular ministry press conference on Wednesday.
The Chinese diplomat made this statement while commenting, at the media's request, on Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement that a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens wishing to visit Russia would come into effect soon.
China attaches great importance to simplifying procedures for the movement of people between China and Russia, Mao Ning noted, emphasizing that the two countries are each other's largest neighbors.
The introduction of a mutual visa-free regime between the two countries will further strengthen cultural exchanges and meets the common interests of the peoples of the two countries, she concluded. -0-
