Kyiv, November 18 (Xinhua) — Ukraine has received a proposal from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a new four-year financing program totaling $8 billion. This was announced by Roksolana Pidlasa, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee, as reported by RBC-Ukraine on Monday evening.

According to her, the IMF Board of Directors is expected to make a final decision regarding the program's launch in January next year. The first tranche is expected to arrive in Ukraine at that time.

At the same time, R. Pidlasa noted that to launch the program, Kyiv will have to meet a number of the fund's conditions. These include adopting the 2026 state budget within the agreed-upon deficit with the IMF.

Separately, R. Pidlasa stated that the volume of the fund’s new program is less than what Ukraine requires.

The current cooperation program with Ukraine was approved by the IMF on March 31, 2023. It is designed for four years and provides for the allocation of $15.6 billion. According to the Ministry of Finance, by November of this year, Kyiv had attracted $10.7 billion under this program.

How the current credit line will be combined with the new financing program has not yet been announced. –0–
