Beijing, November 18 (Xinhua) — Since the introduction of a visa-free policy for Russian citizens, Dongning City in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has been promoting the continuous growth of cross-border tourism, trade, and consumption, opening up new opportunities for cross-border cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Russia.

According to available data, 7,821 Russians entered through the Dongning border crossing between September 15 and October 29, which is 65.03 percent more than during the same period last year.

According to the Economic Information Daily on November 18, the city of Dongning is stepping up its efforts to both offer and promote cultural tourism products. By creating promotional videos in Chinese and Russian and distributing them on Russian-language websites and social media, Dongning is introducing potential Russian tourists to its unique cultural and tourism resources, including local delicacies and attractions.

Taking into account the needs of Russian tourists, “1-3-day inbound tour itineraries” have been carefully developed, accompanied by special inbound tour packages, and a Russian-language Dunning tourist guide has been compiled to enable Russian tourists to quickly become familiar with local tourism resources.

Furthermore, using festivals and events as a bridge for exchange, Dongning hosted the Open Basketball Championship for Chinese and Russian Teenagers. Following the competition, educational exchanges in schools and cultural tourism experiences were organized, further contributing to the increase in inbound tourism.

The city of Dongning is comprehensively optimizing its services to provide international tourists with the best travel experience. Work continues to improve bilingual service facilities, update bilingual signage at key locations such as hotels, shopping malls, and attractions, and add Russian-language audio guides to make travel more convenient for Russian tourists. Medium- and long-term wellness packages (3 to 10 days) have been developed, bilingual signage has been installed in city hospitals, "Standards for the Treatment and Diagnostic Process for Russian Patients" have been developed, and discounted medical examination packages are being offered.

Transportation services in Dongning are also being continuously strengthened: irregular direct buses have been launched from Dongning Border Crossing to the Russian Far East, covering major cities such as Vladivostok. Currently, 32 daily bus routes between China and Russia via Dongning Border Crossing provide a capacity of up to 1,600 people per day, fully covering various travel needs.

Improving the efficiency of border control and security simultaneously supports cross-border exchanges. Border services have implemented a "group-wide application and centralized screening" system, reducing the average time per person to 2-5 minutes; numerous hotels hosting foreign tourists have received training on guest registration to comprehensively ensure traveler safety.

A number of practical measures are promoting deeper exchanges and cooperation between Dongning and Russia. In the next phase, Dongning will continue to deepen efforts in all areas, further optimize its service environment, and expand its product offerings, striving to create a new hub for Sino-Russian cross-border exchanges and cooperation.
