QUITO, November 16 (Xinhua) — At least 13 people were killed and more than 20 injured on Sunday after an interprovincial bus overturned on a road in Ecuador's Bolivar province, local media reported.
According to Expreso, the accident occurred at 1:00 PM local time when the bus, traveling from Simiatugue to Ambato, veered off the highway into a deep ravine.
Rescuers, firefighters, police and military personnel were dispatched to the scene, assisted by ambulance crews.
Authorities confirmed that the dead included children and adults from three families. The injured were taken to various hospitals for medical treatment.
