Moscow, November 16 (Xinhua) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a telephone conversation on Saturday to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
According to the Kremlin website, a thorough exchange of views was held on the situation in the region, including the developments in the Gaza Strip in the context of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of detainees, the state of affairs surrounding the Iranian nuclear program, and issues of facilitating further stabilization in Syria.
The last telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu took place on October 6. At that time, the Russian and Israeli leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's so-called "20-point plan." Putin reaffirmed Russia's unwavering position on the Palestinian issue, namely, that it must be resolved on the basis of international law.
