Buenos Aires, November 15 (Xinhua) — At least 20 people were injured on Friday evening when an explosion in an industrial park 50 kilometers southwest of Buenos Aires caused a fire and the release of toxic gases, local media reported.

The explosion, which occurred around 9:00 pm local time /00:00 GMT/ in the city of Ezeiza, blew out windows in buildings within a four-kilometer radius, then started a fire and created a toxic cloud, Clarin reports.

The fire reached a height of more than 20 m and has been burning for more than two hours.

Ezeiza Mayor Gaston Granados said the fire had spread to several factories and was still not contained.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started in the warehouse of an agrochemical plant. –0–
