UN, November 14 (Xinhua) — The UN Security Council on Thursday adopted a resolution extending the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) for one year, until November 15, 2026.
Resolution 2800 received the support of 14 Council members. The United States abstained.
The document stipulates that the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) will consist of 14,046 military personnel and 2,999 police officers, as well as 108 prison service officers.
The resolution recalls that the Security Council intends to continually review the mission's strength, taking into account progress in the field of security and the stated goal of ensuring the success of the transition period and terminating MINUSCA's operations once appropriate conditions have been created. –0–
