Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin paid a working visit to the Sultanate of Oman. He held talks with Deputy Prime Minister for International Cooperation Asaad bin Tariq Al Said and Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousuf. He also participated in the Russia-Oman Business Forum.
During the talks, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Russian-Omani dialogue is characterized by a high pace and rich content, facilitated by the trusting and close communication between the leaders of the countries – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarek Al Said.
"There is positive momentum in trade and economic relations. Compared to 2021, trade turnover has almost doubled. Promising areas of our bilateral cooperation include expanding the supply of halal products and sharing best practices in housing construction. We look forward to close collaboration. I am confident it has significant potential," said Marat Khusnullin.
The parties also discussed key areas of cooperation between the states in transport and logistics, energy, and tourism.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister spoke at the plenary session "Russia – Oman: A Look to the Future" of the Russia – Oman Business Forum, organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
"This year, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Sultanate of Oman. Over the years, we see that our relations, based on mutual respect, shared interests, and a commitment to the principles of a multipolar world, span a wide range of areas and are demonstrating positive growth. We see that bilateral tourism is growing. We certainly appreciate Oman's participation in the International Economic Forum 'Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum.' There is great potential for increasing trade turnover, developing transit traffic along the North-South transport corridor, and jointly implementing large-scale infrastructure, industrial, and housing projects. Experience in modernizing and developing the housing and utilities sector will also be useful. Joining forces will create new growth areas for the economies of both countries," said Marat Khusnullin.
