BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Comoros President Azali Assoumani exchanged congratulations on Thursday on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Recalling that China was the first to establish diplomatic relations with the Comoros, Xi Jinping noted that over the past half century, regardless of changes in the international situation, relations between the two countries have always maintained healthy and stable development.
According to him, in recent years, political mutual trust between the two countries has been steadily strengthening, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results, creating a model of equality, solidarity, and mutual assistance between countries of different sizes.
Xi Jinping noted that he attaches great importance to the development of bilateral ties and expressed his readiness to work with President A. Assoumani to take advantage of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to develop traditional friendship.
The Chinese leader also called for joint efforts to promote the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, continuously enrich the bilateral strategic partnership, and make greater contributions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
In his message, A. Assoumani noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, Comoros and China have maintained mutual respect and trust, demonstrated solidarity, and built strong and lasting friendships. The fruitful results of bilateral cooperation have fundamentally changed the lives of the Comorians, he added.
In this changing and turbulent world, the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and mutually beneficial cooperation advocated by President Xi Jinping have inspired countries in the Global South, including Comoros, noted A. Assoumani.
The Comorian side highly appreciates China's vision of building a peaceful, just and multipolar world and is willing to work with China under the guidance of the concept of a community with a shared future to continue promoting sustainable and inclusive development and make due contributions to strengthening solidarity, cooperation and common prosperity between Africa and China, the President concluded.
