Beijing, November 11 (Xinhua) — The 8th Conference on Socio-Economic Development of Central Asia and the International Academic Symposium on High-Quality Cooperation and Development between China and Central Asia in the Context of Regional Studies were recently held in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

According to the Zhongxinwang news website, the event was organized by the Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics. It aims to create a more open and multifaceted platform for the exchange of opinions among scholars and specialists in regional studies, policymakers, and business representatives from China and Central Asian countries, thereby promoting humanitarian exchanges and educational cooperation between the two countries.

Ge Yongmei, Vice Chair of the Zhejiang Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that the committee places great emphasis on trade and economic cooperation between Zhejiang Province and the Belt and Road countries. The committee, together with the Zhejiang University of Economics and Finance, established a Central Asian Studies Institute to strengthen systematic research on the economy, trade, investment environment, and policy of Central Asia. Future plans include establishing a high-quality think tank to promote the healthy development of trade, economic, and investment ties between China and the Central Asian countries.

Zheng Yali, Vice-Rector of the aforementioned university, reported that, leveraging the opportunities for cooperation between China and Central Asia, the university, together with Almaty University of Management, established the China-Kazakhstan Silk Road Institute, which has so far enrolled over 700 students from Central Asian countries.
