GUANGZHOU, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — South China's Guangdong Province activated a Level 4 emergency response at 10 a.m. Monday as Typhoon Fung-wong entered the South China Sea.

The typhoon is expected to have a significant impact on waters off Guangdong Province in the coming days.

Typhoon Fung Wong, the 26th this year, is moving northwest at a speed of about 30 km/h and entered the eastern part of the South China Sea on Monday, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Station.

Heavy and abundant rainfall is expected in eastern parts of Guangdong Province on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Guangdong Flood, Drought and Typhoon Control Headquarters called on all relevant regions and departments to strengthen forecasting and early warning systems, promptly step up emergency response measures, and effectively implement all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
