With the support of Rosneft, the World Sambo Championships were held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The large-scale competition brought together 466 athletes from 70 countries.
The world's top athletes competed in 31 weight categories across sport and combat sambo. Blind sambo wrestlers also took part. The Russian team demonstrated strong results and took first place overall at the championship. The athletes won 21 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took second and third place in the team standings.
The recent bouts confirmed the high level of competition among the world's leading sambo wrestlers. For the first time in history, an athlete from Iran won the gold medal, while a woman from Venezuela won the silver. A live broadcast of the bouts was available to everyone on the International Sambo Federation website.
