TOKYO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) — A tsunami warning was issued after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Japan's Iwate Prefecture on Sunday, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.

The JMA issued a tsunami warning for the prefecture's east coast after raising the earthquake's magnitude from 6.5 to 6.7.

The earthquake struck at 17:03 local time on the coast of Iwate, its hypocenter was at a depth of 10 km, and the magnitude was 4.0 out of 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in the city of Morioka and the village of Yahaba. –0–
