SHANGHAI, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) — For U.S. medical technology giant Medtronic, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) is opening the door to the Chinese market, highlighting the country's commitment to openness and international cooperation.

Thanks to the CIIE platform, “we can accelerate the adoption of our most advanced and innovative products in China,” said Cao Shan, vice president of corporate affairs and communications for Medtronic Greater China, during the latest edition of the China Economic Roundtable, a media discussion program hosted by Xinhua News Agency.

Cao Shan also noted the company's record-breaking participation in the 8th CIIE, which runs from November 5th to 10th and set new records for both exhibition space and the number of exhibitors. "This year, we have the largest exhibition space in our history, and we are showcasing over 100 innovative exhibits," she said.

As a reminder, in October, the company opened its first digital health innovation base in China in Beijing.

According to Cao Shan, over the past eight years, Medtronic has showcased more than 500 innovative products and treatments at CIIE, more than 70 of which were debuting for the first time.

Regarding the company's 36-year history of presence in China, Cao Shan said that Medtronic's continued participation in the CIIE has allowed it to witness "the Chinese government's confidence and determination in pursuing openness and inclusiveness, as well as tangible improvements in the country's business environment."

She added that the company has increased its investments in China and will continue to expand its presence in the Chinese market.

“We are convinced that China will become the world’s largest healthcare market and a leading innovation hub,” she said. -0-
