Minsk, November 7 (Xinhua) — The 4th Media Firewood Chopping Championship was held on Friday in the Minsk region on the banks of the Vyacha Reservoir. The competition was first held in 2022.

The vibrant festive event took place in a friendly atmosphere. Thirty-nine teams participated in the championship, including representatives from Belarus, Russia, China, and Ukraine, as well as members of the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and participants from Belarusian ministries and agencies. Throughout the day, guests and competitors participated in relay races, master classes, and enjoyed an entertainment program.

During the championship opening, Belarusian Presidential Press Secretary Natalya Eismont welcomed the participants and guests on behalf of the Belarusian head of state. She also noted that a record number of teams participated in this year's event.

Championship participants competed in a variety of disciplines, including: wood chopping, axe-cutting, presidential-style wood chopping, relay racing, "One Strike!" and "Strength Test."

Xinhua News Agency participated in the championship for the third time. The date coincided with the agency's 94th anniversary, making the celebration doubly solemn. A Xinhua News Agency representative took first place among ten competitors in the "Strength Test!" competition, following the "Women's Wood Chopping" exercise.

"Xinhua has been participating for several years now. We always express our deep gratitude to them: they are our comrades and colleagues who are very driven to succeed," N. Eismont emphasized.
