NEW YORK, November 5 (Xinhua) — The death toll from the crash of a cargo plane near Louisville International Airport in Kentucky on Tuesday has risen to 11, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to him, a child is believed to be among the dead. Furthermore, several people are still missing. The governor said rescuers are switching from searching for survivors to locating the bodies of the dead.
Beshear declared a state of emergency and mobilized the National Guard to expedite the release of resources needed to respond to the disaster, local media reported.
The US National Transportation Safety Board's investigative team discovered the plane's "black boxes"—the voice and flight data recorders—at the crash site.
