Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with Oryol Region Governor Andrei Klychkov.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with Oryol Region Governor Andrei Klychkov. The key topic of discussion was the implementation of municipal solid waste management projects.
As noted, the Oryol Region achieved its municipal solid waste processing target ahead of schedule last year. Actual waste generation amounted to 208,600 tons, with the entire volume collected by the regional operator being delivered to processing facilities. Furthermore, the region's established landfill target was met.
Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of continuing to improve solid municipal waste management in the region, as this directly impacts both the quality of life for citizens and environmental protection.
The meeting also discussed the development of infrastructure at Orlovskoye Polesie National Park. The park currently boasts the largest population of European bison in Russia—823 individuals—and plans to increase the population to 1,000 by 2028. Today, Orlovskoye Polesie is one of the region's most popular tourist destinations. The region is working to obtain the status of a special economic zone for tourism and recreation, which will facilitate the development of the tourism industry, create new jobs, and support and protect natural resources.
Dmitry Patrushev and Andrey Klychkov also discussed the results of the national project "Ecology," which, in addition to creating a comprehensive solid municipal waste management system, focused on preserving unique water bodies and reforestation in the region. 247 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget for these purposes. Work in these areas continues as part of the national project "Environmental Well-Being."
