Beijing, November 5 (Xinhua) — Thanks to continuous technological advancements, China is gaining greater capabilities to defend its homeland, which includes the Taiwan region, said Zhang Han, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

She made the statement in response to a request for comment on the recent release of satellite images of several locations in Taiwan taken by commercial satellites from mainland China.

On October 25, Taiwan Liberation Memorial Day and the 80th anniversary of the island's liberation from Japanese occupation, the Jilin-1 satellite constellation released eight high-resolution satellite images taken from space, covering various parts of Taiwan, including Taipei City, Taipei Port, and the famous Alishan Scenic Area.

“Taiwan is an inseparable part of China,” reads a post on the official WeChat account of Jilin-1, adding that every inch of China’s Taiwan Province is full of vitality, as can be seen in the images of Jilin-1.

The move has attracted considerable attention and sparked heated debate among residents on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan is a precious island of our homeland, Zhang Han noted, emphasizing that thanks to the constant improvement of technological capabilities that allow for more accurate measurement of its territory, China is gaining greater strength and confidence in its ability to defend its homeland and look to the future.

She invited more Taiwanese compatriots to visit the mainland, enjoy the beautiful scenery and feel the family atmosphere. -0-
