JERUSALEM, November 4 (Xinhua) — Israeli forces launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, claiming they targeted a militant who approached Israeli forces in the northern Palestinian enclave. The strikes occurred despite a ceasefire in effect since October 10.
The Israeli army said the man who was attacked had crossed the "yellow line" separating areas where Israeli troops are stationed.
"Shortly after identification, the terrorist was eliminated to eliminate the threat," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement. The statement also noted that Southern Command troops "remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will act against any immediate threat."
Although the ceasefire has led to a significant reduction in Israeli attacks, smaller-scale strikes continue almost daily. According to the Gaza Health Authority, at least 238 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 600 injured in Israeli attacks since October 11. The total number of casualties from Israeli attacks since October 2023 is approaching 70,000.
