Colombo, November 4 (Xinhua) — Sri Lanka imported cars worth more than $1.2 billion in the first nine months of 2025, the state-run Daily News reported on Monday.
According to the publication, in September alone, automobile imports amounted to $286 million.
A sharp rise in car imports contributed to the widening of the trade deficit in September, the article said.
Sri Lanka has resumed importing cars for both personal and commercial use in 2025 following strict restrictions imposed in 2020. –0–
