At the Timiryazev Center training and exhibition complex in Moscow, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko welcomed the participants of the Abilympics national championship, assessed the competition venue, and spoke with the competitors.
The championship is held as part of the federal project "Professionalism" of the national project "Youth and Children" with the support of the Ministry of Education and the presidential platform "Russia – Land of Opportunity."
At the beginning of the plenary session, "From Challenges to Solutions: A Strategy for Growing Russia's Inclusive Potential through the Abilympics Movement," the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Moscow government and Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, as well as the organizers, partners, and participants, for hosting the finals in hospitable Moscow.
He added that more than 3,000 partner companies already collaborate with Abilympics. The participants are schoolchildren, students, and adults who have passed a very rigorous selection process.
"It's crucial that this year we're focusing on our heroes—the SVO participants, who have a unique opportunity to gain new skills and showcase their skills and talents. All the conditions have been created here for this, and I'd very much like for them to find their calling and fulfill the challenges they'll face in civilian life. We're working with you to achieve this, following the President's instructions. I'm confident that the 450 winners we'll announce on November 2 will truly be these 'stars,' role models for everyone who, despite their health limitations, wants to be an active member of our society, contribute, and realize their potential," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, this year's championship slogan, "No Limits, Act Boldly," reflects the opportunities it offers.
The Deputy Prime Minister also assessed the competition venue and spoke with participants and experts.
In particular, he visited stands for culinary arts, welding technologies, automobile repair and maintenance, UAV operators, and others.
At the Moscow stand, the Moscow Employment Service presented the work of career consultants on inclusive employment and a specially created website to help veterans of the Soviet Military District find work, be part of their community, and be useful to the city. More than 400 people participated.
Thanks to the Abilympics movement, the range of professions and specialties for people with disabilities has expanded. Today, there are 400 of them. Movement technologies and methods are used in vocational education.
Today, the employment rate for Abilympics championship participants has reached 93.5%. Employer partners are involved in developing new competencies for people with disabilities, providing internships, and employment opportunities for championship participants.
The National Abilympics Championship is taking place in Moscow from October 30 to November 2, with over 1,000 competitors taking part.
According to a Russian government decree, competition winners receive cash certificates that can be used to obtain additional education for children, continuing professional training, and specialized technical rehabilitation equipment. The certificate is worth 100,000 rubles for first place, 75,000 rubles for second place, and 50,000 rubles for third place.
