Beijing, November 3 (Xinhua) — The Fourth China-Russia Science and Technology Forum was recently held at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). The event brought together more than 240 experts and scientists from both countries, including over 140 specialists from nearly 50 Russian universities and research institutes, including 14 academicians. Participants discussed cutting-edge scientific and technical developments in energy, astronautics, physics, and materials science.
According to the HPU website, Shi Zhaohui, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Administration of Heilongjiang Province (northeast China), noted that Heilongjiang Province, which borders Russia, has unique advantages for cooperation with Russia, thanks to its long-standing historical ties and strong humanitarian foundation. In recent years, the two sides have continuously developed high-level and in-depth cooperation, achieving significant results. He expressed hope that the forum participants would be able to exchange views and develop common approaches, contributing to greater innovative results in practical cooperation between the two countries.
HIT Vice-Rector Fan Feng spoke about the distinctive features and traditions of the university's cooperation with Russia. He stated that, by maintaining mutual trust with its Russian colleagues, the university has become a shining example of Heilongjiang Province's interactions with Russia. He expressed hope that scholars from both countries will continue this spirit of practical cooperation, unlocking the enormous potential for collaboration in higher education and scientific and technological innovation.
During the forum, representatives from the Zhengzhou Research Institute of the Chinese Polytechnic University and the Federal Research Center for Problems of Chemical Physics and Medicinal Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences jointly opened the "Chinese-Russian Research Center for Advanced Energy Materials and Technologies." The parties also held a meeting of the academic committee of the joint Chinese-Russian laboratory, deepening practical cooperation.
Since its inaugural forum in 2018, the event has brought together scientists and engineers working in advanced technologies from both countries, providing a platform for exchanging current scientific achievements and showcasing research results. Today, the forum has become an important landmark in Sino-Russian scientific and technological cooperation.
