With the support of Rosneft, the 14th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Marine Research and Education: MARESEDU-2025" was held in Moscow. The event was organized by the Lomonosov Moscow State University Marine Research Center, the UNESCO-MSU Educational and Scientific Center for Marine Biology and Biophysics, and the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Over 1,200 specialists participated in the conference.

Rosneft has supported the conference since 2019. The event is one of the main platforms for discussions among the country's leading scientists in the field of marine research. This year, as part of the thematic sessions, Rosneft specialists presented a report on the Company's comprehensive scientific research in the Arctic.

Rosneft is implementing the largest Arctic exploration program since Soviet times. Over 13 years, more than 60 expeditions have been conducted, during which scientists have studied the region's hydrometeorological, geological, and biological features. This has allowed them to collect a unique array of information on the Arctic's climate, nature, and wildlife.

Scientists from the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences also presented the results of polar bear research expeditions in the Kara Sea to conference participants as part of the Tamura Company's environmental program. The goal of the Tamura project, which began in 2024, is to update information on the status of key animal species in the Far North. Scientists are studying the Kara subpopulation of polar bears, wild reindeer, and valuable bird and fish species in western Taimyr. The program will run until 2027.

Moscow State University scientists presented Rosneft's large-scale environmental project in the White Sea. The project, which began in 2023, is being implemented jointly with leading Russian scientific institutes and the company Innopraktika. To gather information on the current state of marine biota and assess changes in the region's ecosystem over the past 100 years, the scientists retraced the route of Soviet hydrobiologist Konstantin Deryugin's unique expedition, which he conducted from 1922 to 1926. Rosneft representatives also participated in a roundtable discussion at the N.A. Pertsov White Sea Biological Station (MSBS). The MSU BBS serves as a research site for a number of the company's environmental projects.

Over 500 papers were presented at sessions on oceanology, hydrology, ecology, biology, environmental management, and marine geology. Thanks to the hybrid format and online broadcast, scientists from remote regions of Russia were also able to present their research results. The event also featured a youth paper competition for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Following the event, the expert council selected 20 winners, who were awarded Rosneft environmental atlases.
