The first organization of this kind in Russia turned 68 years old—the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society—has been uniting people and institutions for decades to support good-neighborly bilateral relations.
The anniversary was celebrated in a festive atmosphere at the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow. Galina Kulikova, First Deputy Chair of the Society, Honorary Doctor of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation, delivered a report entitled "Public Diplomacy in Russian-Chinese Relations." Kulikova has been studying China for over 70 years and has contributed significantly to the development of bilateral ties, and her experience inspires young researchers.
The Chinese side was represented at the celebration by Zhang Wei, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, and Feng Litao, Minister Counselor for Culture and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow.
Our university was represented by Fanis Sharipov, a member of the Society's board, and students from the Russian-Chinese educational program "International Manufacturing Business," which is implemented by SUM in partnership with leading Chinese universities. The students not only observed diplomatic practices but also had the opportunity to directly exchange experiences with leading experts. It is worth noting that the State University of Management actively participates in the activities of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society as a member of the organization.
The SUM delegation was joined at the anniversary celebration by colleagues from the Institute of Asian and African Studies (IAAS) of Moscow State University, MGIMO, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, as well as the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The celebration served as a platform for sharing public diplomacy experience with new generations of specialists, and SUM's participation emphasized that cooperation between Russia and China is developing through education and practice.
