Gyeongju, South Korea, October 31, Xinhua — China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Thailand and share development experience in the new era. Chinese President Xi Jinping announced this in the South Korean city of Gyeongju on Friday.
During a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Chanvirakul on the sidelines of the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting, Xi Jinping expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Queen Mother Sirikit of Thailand and conveyed his sincere condolences to King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua.
The Chinese President noted that China and Thailand are good neighbors, good friends, good relatives and good partners with frequent mutual visits and close ties like one family.
Xi Jinping recalled that during his visit to Thailand in November 2022, China-Thailand relations entered a new stage of building a community of shared future with a more solid foundation of friendship and greater momentum for cooperation.
The Chinese leader noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, as well as the golden 50th anniversary of China-Thailand friendship. He stated that, at a new starting point, both sides should uphold the traditions of the past and open new paths for the future, work together to deepen and strengthen the construction of a China-Thailand community with a shared future, support the modernization process in both countries, and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Xi Jinping also reported that the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which was successfully held recently in Beijing, reviewed and adopted the Proposals for Developing the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for China's National Economic and Social Development.
He called for accelerating the construction of the China-Thailand railway and strengthening cooperation in agricultural trade, green economy and digital innovation, and ensuring that the peoples of both countries enjoy more tangible benefits from this cooperation.
As Xi Jinping pointed out, the two countries should deepen exchanges in tourism, youth, regional cooperation, and other cultural and humanitarian areas, organize celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and promote mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
The Chinese President also called on both countries to step up efforts to combat cross-border crimes such as cyber fraud, gambling and telecommunications fraud to create a safe environment for bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
Xi Jinping added that in the face of an international situation characterized by chaotic changes, China is willing to work with Thailand to advance the implementation of the Global Governance Initiative, uphold international fairness and justice, and safeguard the common interests of the Global South. –0–
