Polytechnicians are winners and runners-up of the competition for the preservation of cultural heritage sites

The results of the "Preservation with Adaptation 2024-2025" competition were announced at the Nevsky Town Hall in St. Petersburg. Seven student teams from the Civil Engineering Institute of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University won prizes in three categories. The competition was organized by the Committee for State Control, Use, and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of St. Petersburg, the Union of Restorers of St. Petersburg, the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg City Department of Inventory and Valuation of Real and Movable Property, and the St. Petersburg Investment Management.

The competition's objective is to identify the best project proposal for adapting cultural heritage sites for modern use in locations across St. Petersburg, with subsequent inclusion of the information on the St. Petersburg investment map and in the "Ruble per Meter" program.

The event began with welcoming remarks from the competition's curators and organizers: Ivan Skladchikov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Investment Committee; Irina Shchukina, Deputy Chair of the St. Petersburg Property Relations Committee; Dmitry Panov, Member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg; Alexey Mikhailov, Chairman of the Committee for State Control, Use, and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments; Anton Ivanov, Acting Chairman of the St. Petersburg City Branch of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments; and Nina Shangina, Chair of the Union of Restorers of St. Petersburg.

According to the results of the "Preservation with Adaptation 2024-2025" competition, students from the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University's Civil Engineering Institute won in three categories.

Best of the Best Nomination

1st place – a team of third-year students in the “Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures” program, led by captain Alisa Katelevskaya, with the project “Lessner’s Dacha with a Plot” (supervisor – senior lecturer at the Institute of Civil Engineering Galina Bardina).

2nd place – a team of second-year students majoring in "Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures" and "Design" under the direction of captain Ekaterina Kuleshova with the project "Main Building with a Front Garden and Fence," part of the cultural heritage site "The Complex of the Former Udelnaya Hospital with its Grounds and Green Spaces" (supervisors – senior lecturers of the Institute of Social Studies Alexandra Zatsepina and Maria Illarionova).

3rd place – a team of second-year students from the “Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures” and “Design” programs, led by captain Alina Golovashova, with the project “N. M. Kochkin’s Dacha” (supervisor – ISI teacher Lyudmila Mikhailovskaya).

Nomination "Best according to investors"

2nd place – second-year students of the “Architectural Environment Design” program, led by Captain Elizaveta Mitropolskaya, with the project “V.F. Gabertsetel’s Dacha” (supervisor – ISI assistant Victoria Pedenko).

3rd place – second-year students in the “Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures” program, led by Captain Oytutakhon Sultanova, with the project “Verlander Mineral Water Pavilion” (supervisor – ISI assistant Alexander Mitin).

Nomination "Best Student Project"

1st place — a team of second-year students majoring in "Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures" under the leadership of captain Andrey Kotelnikov with a project that included the objects "Factory Settlement, Building No. 2", "Factory Settlement, Building No. 5", and "Factory Settlement, Building No. 7" (supervisor — Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Civil Engineering Galina Bardina).

2nd place – a team of second-year students in the “Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures” and “Design” programs, led by captain Mikhail Abramov, with the project “Residential Building” (academic supervisors – senior lecturers of the Institute of Scientific Research Alexandra Zatsepina and Maria Illarionova).

The ISI faculty were also recognized for their contributions to the project preparation and competition organization. Marina Petrochenko, Director of the Institute of Civil Engineering, received a commendation from Alexander Belsky, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, for organizing the work of students from various specialties at the Institute of Civil Engineering of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Margarita Perkova, Director of the ISI Higher School of Design and Architecture, and Galina Bardina and Maria Illarionova, Senior Lecturers at the ISI, received letters of gratitude from the Union of Restorers of St. Petersburg.
