Liu Wei, Secretary General of the Institute of Russia at Tsinghua University, paid a working visit to Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Tsinghua University is a leading Chinese university and a long-standing strategic partner of SPbPU. The universities host numerous events annually, and our cooperation spans a wide range of areas.
The visit became especially symbolic because the day before Liu Wei, a graduate of SPbPU, was awarded the honorary title of Ambassador of Russian EducationPolytechnic University Rector Andrey Rudskoy congratulated his Chinese colleague on her new status. Representatives of the two leading technical universities gathered for a working meeting to discuss the prospects for strategic development of their partnership in a warm atmosphere. The parties agreed to update the strategic partnership agreement concluded in 2014 to give new impetus to their collaboration. The discussion focused on specific areas of collaboration—from energy, biomedicine, and urban studies to the development of joint educational programs and corporate training programs.
Liu Wei also visited the laboratories of the Higher School of Cyber-Physical Systems Control and met with Chinese graduate students, who shared their impressions of studying at SPbPU.
Liu Wei expressed her deep gratitude for the hospitality and shared her impressions: "This visit was extremely fulfilling and productive. My title as Education Ambassador is a great honor and responsibility. I leave with the firm conviction that our universities must take cooperation to a qualitatively new level. I am confident that the updated strategic agreement will open a new chapter in the relationship between our universities."
Dmitry Arsenyev, SPbPU Vice-Rector for International Affairs, emphasized: "We are honored to welcome Liu Wei to the Polytechnic University, and it is especially valuable that she will now represent the interests of Russian education in China in the honorary capacity of Ambassador.
