BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) — Jiang Chaoliang, a former member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and former vice chairman of the NPC Commission on Agriculture and Rural Work, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from his civil service for serious violations of party discipline and the country's laws, according to an official statement released Monday.
This decision was made following an investigation conducted by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervisory Committee with the approval of the CPC Central Committee.
Jiang Chaoliang has lost his ideals and convictions and is accused of power-for-money deals and clan corruption.
Investigators found that Jiang Chaoliang abused his official position to assist third parties in matters such as running businesses, approving loans, concluding project contracts, and advancing their careers, illegally receiving money and material assets from them on an especially large scale.
His illegal proceeds will be confiscated and his case file will be transferred to the prosecutor's office for further investigation and prosecution against him. -0-
