Beijing, October 27 (Xinhua) — Hovercraft began operating on Monday on the route between the Chinese city of Heihe (Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China) and the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk across the Heilongjiang (Amur) River, replacing motor ships, the Zhongguo Xinwenshe news agency reported.
As the agency reported, with the onset of the difficult off-season period on the Heilongjiang border river, passengers are now being transported by hovercraft on a special schedule.
On the first day of the official launch of passenger hovercraft services, the Chinese side prepared four hovercraft for the season, while the Russian side prepared three, each with 18 seats. The operators will adjust the frequency of flights, either increasing or decreasing, based on the number of passengers.
The earliest flight from Heihe to Blagoveshchensk will depart at 8:00 a.m. Beijing time, and the latest at 3:00 p.m. The last flight from Blagoveshchensk to Heihe is scheduled to depart at 4:00 p.m. Beijing time. -0-
