Beirut, April 2 (Xinhua) — At least 14 people were killed on Wednesday in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, the country's National News Agency reported.

At the same time, the Hezbollah movement said its militants attacked several Israeli targets, groups of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles using missiles, drones and artillery shells.

Lebanon's Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Hajar, said the country is being subjected to devastating Israeli attacks as part of a war imposed on it. He expressed hope for support from Arab countries and the international community to end the conflict and facilitate the Lebanese government's decision to extend its authority throughout the country using its own forces.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said in a daily report that the death toll since March 2 has reached 1,318, with another 3,935 injured.

Fighting between Hezbollah and Israel has been ongoing in the Lebanese-Israeli border area since March 2. For the first time since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024, the movement fired rockets at Israel. Israel responded with intensified airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon.
