Moscow, April 1 /Xinhua/ — The personalized mRNA anti-tumor vaccine "NeoOncovak" was used in clinical practice in Russia for the first time, TASS reported on Wednesday, citing the press service of the Russian Ministry of Health.
The first patient was a 60-year-old resident of the Kursk region with melanoma. He is undergoing immunotherapy, but despite the treatment, he remains at high risk of further disease progression. In these circumstances, the use of a personalized mRNA vaccine is being considered as a means of disease control.
As Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko stated on Wednesday, work to include a personalized cancer vaccine in the state program of guarantees for free medical care in Russia is in its final stages. –0–
