Qingdao, April 1 (Xinhua) — A business meeting on import procurement between China (Shandong) and the SCO was held on March 30 at the China-SCO Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "China-SCO Demonstration Zone") in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province. The event was attended by approximately 400 people, including officials responsible for economic cooperation from local governments of the SCO countries, building a bridge for comprehensive, multi-level, and large-scale economic and trade cooperation between Shandong Province and the SCO countries.
Participants discussed deepening local trade and economic cooperation within the SCO, expanding imports, and ensuring the smooth operation of production and supply chains. It was unanimously noted that Shandong Province and the SCO countries possess a high degree of complementarity in resources and enormous potential for cooperation. The parties expressed their willingness to use this meeting as an opportunity to expand areas of interaction, enhance the level of cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit.
Following the meeting, a number of important documents were published. The Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce presented the "Guidelines for Economic and Trade Cooperation for the First Local Governments at the Provincial and Prefectural Levels of the SCO Countries," the "List of Shandong Province's Import Needs from SCO Countries for 2026," and the "List of First Recommended Enterprises in Shandong Province for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation with SCO Countries." These documents are intended to establish clear guidelines for cooperation between enterprises. Meanwhile, the SCO Demonstration Zone published the "Recommended Catalog of Imported Goods 'Export to China: Selecting from the SCO'" and "A Series of Measures of the SCO Demonstration Zone to Promote Local Economic and Trade Cooperation with SCO Countries," aimed at realizing political advantages and improving the trading environment.
Representatives from Qingdao Customs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, the Qingdao City Department of Commerce, the Russian Export Center, the Yantai City Department of Commerce (Shandong Province, East China), and others spoke during the presentations and exchanges.
In parallel with the main event, a meeting to match supply and demand between Chinese and foreign enterprises and a joint conference to select products from organizations participating in the "Silk Road E-Commerce" project were held. These events created multi-level, large-scale, and highly effective platforms for cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and foreign enterprises, thereby enhancing the impact of the main event and expanding the scope for cooperation.
