On April 11, the "Historical. Collection" museum of plastic figures will open in Zaryadye Park. This is Russia's first large-scale exhibition project, presenting a gallery of prominent figures from Russian history and the present day in the form of hyperrealistic art.
"The Museum of Plastic Figures 'Historical. Collection' will be the first major exhibition project in Russia to feature 50 figures of famous personalities from Russian history and the present day. For the exhibition, art objects will be created from a special silicone material in collaboration with film and prosthetic makeup experts—the creators will use new digital technologies to achieve maximum portrait likeness," noted the Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Moscow Department of Culture.
The premiere exhibition will include wax figures of Peter the Great and Yuri Gagarin, Alexander Pushkin and Vladimir Vysotsky, Leo Tolstoy and Nikita Mikhalkov, Georgy Zhukov, Valentina Tereshkova, Vladislav Tretyak, and others.
Each figure is the result of hundreds of hours of work, from the first sketches to the smallest details, said Yuri Zhukov, an artist and special effects specialist.
All figures will be placed against the backdrop of original decorations.
"This isn't a reconstruction—it's a reboot: we're re-dressing history for the present, preserving its character, changing the formal language, and giving the heroes of the past a modern wardrobe, while some of the looks remain as historically accurate as possible," noted costume designer Oksana Shevchenko.
