Almaty, April 1 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan plans to build eight new power plants and modernize 11 existing ones by 2030. The Kazakh Ministry of Energy announced this on Wednesday.
According to the national project for the development of coal generation for 2026-2030, 7.8 GW of new and upgraded capacity will be introduced in the country.
As the ministry noted, the national project is aimed not only at increasing generation, but also at improving the efficiency of existing power plants: as a result of modernization, it is planned to reduce the level of equipment depreciation by 13 percent.
