ZHENGZHOU, March 31 (Xinhua) — China's Changying-8 cargo drone, designed for delivering and dropping supplies, successfully completed its maiden flight at an airport in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, on Tuesday.
The fixed-wing Changying-8, independently developed by Beijing Beifang Changying UAV Technology Co., Ltd., is China's first 7-ton cargo drone platform to pass flight tests.
The Changying-8 is equipped with a cargo compartment with a volume of 18 cubic meters, while the maximum takeoff weight of the aircraft is 7 tons, and the maximum payload is 3.5 tons.
The Changying-8 unmanned aerial vehicle is designed to transport and airdrop various types of cargo, including general cargo, fresh food requiring cold-chain storage, and emergency rescue equipment. The Changying-8 has a maximum range of over 3,000 km.
The maiden flight of the Changying-8 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) represents a breakthrough in efficient transportation, flexible adaptation, and all-terrain capabilities, providing technical support for the development of low-altitude economies and the creation of emergency response support systems.
The new product can be used in scenarios such as long-distance logistics, emergency rescue operations, supply in border areas, and operations in difficult terrain.
