Beirut, March 30 (Xinhua) — Two UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeepers were killed and two others were injured, one seriously, in an explosion that destroyed their vehicle near Bani Hayyan in southern Lebanon on Monday, UNIFIL said in a statement.
This is the second UNIFIL personnel fatality in the past 24 hours. Previously, one peacekeeper from the mission's Indonesian contingent was killed after a shell hit the unit's headquarters.
UNIFIL reported that it is conducting an investigation into the incident involving the bombing of a peacekeeping force vehicle.
