PYONGYANG, March 30 (Xinhua) — An Air China passenger plane from Beijing arrived in Pyongyang on Monday morning, marking the official resumption of passenger flights between the Chinese and North Korean capitals.
Chinese Ambassador to North Korea Wang Yajun and other Chinese diplomats greeted the flight's passengers at Sunan International Airport in Pyongyang.
Calling it a "major event" in bilateral air travel cooperation, Wang Yajun told passengers upon their arrival that the resumption of air travel would facilitate the movement of people, develop trade and economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and serve as a bridge to further strengthen friendly ties and contacts between the peoples of China and the DPRK.
Wang Yajun noted that “at present, road, rail and air traffic between the two countries has been resumed.”
One passenger proudly noted the privilege of being on this special flight and expressed confidence that the resumption of flights will provide more travel opportunities and convenience for residents of China and North Korea, as well as contribute to the development of bilateral relations. He described the flight as "smooth and comfortable."
