Kabul, March 29 (Xinhua) — Traders from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan signed a series of memorandums of understanding worth a total of $514.8 million, the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Sunday.

"The agreements were signed during the Afghan-Uzbek business conference in Kabul, which was attended by Afghan Minister of Industry and Trade Nuruddin Azizi and the governor of Uzbekistan's Namangan region, Shavkat Abdurazakov," the statement said.

Bilateral relations between the neighboring countries have gained significant momentum. In February, Afghan and Uzbek companies signed 25 memorandums of understanding in Kabul worth over $300 million, underscoring the deepening of economic ties.

Since returning to power in August 2021, the current Afghan government has focused on expanding diplomatic, trade, transit, and economic ties with the international community, particularly with neighboring and regional countries. –0–
