TEHRAN, March 28 (Xinhua) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Saturday that his country will respond "resolutely" to any attacks on its infrastructure and economic hubs.
He wrote about this on the social network X the day after Israel's strikes on Iran's industrial and nuclear facilities.
“We have repeatedly stated that Iran does not carry out preemptive strikes, but we will respond decisively if our infrastructure or economic centers are targeted,” M. Pezeshkian emphasized.
Addressing the countries of West Asia, the Iranian president noted: “If you want development and security, do not allow our enemies to wage war from your territory.”
On Friday evening, Israel attacked several Iranian industrial and nuclear facilities, including two steel mills – one in Isfahan province and one in Khuzestan province, a heavy-water research reactor in Markazi province, and a yellowcake (uranium concentrate) plant in Yazd province.
The Israeli strikes came after US President Donald Trump gave Iran a 10-day deadline, ending April 6, to open the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to attack Iranian energy facilities if it failed to comply.
