Moscow, March 27 (Xinhua) — Russia has donated 313 tons of medical supplies to Iran, delivered by rail as part of humanitarian aid. The Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief (MES) press service announced this on Friday.
The delivery took approximately four days and was made possible thanks to the cooperation of various Russian and Azerbaijani agencies, said Dmitry Melnik, Director of the International Affairs Department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. The humanitarian aid was provided at the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This marks the second shipment of Russian humanitarian aid to Iran. Previously, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations delivered 13 tons of medical supplies to Iran via Azerbaijan via an Il-76 aircraft. –0–
