Boao, Hainan Province, March 25 (Xinhua) — Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, held separate meetings in Boao Township, Hainan Province, on Wednesday with Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova and Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, who arrived in China to attend the 2026 Boao Forum for Asia (BOA) meeting.

In addition, Zhao Leji held a group meeting with BAF board members and senior advisers.

During a meeting with S. Gafarova, the Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee stated that China is ready to work with the Azerbaijani side, guided by the important agreements reached between the heads of state, to expand trade, economic, and investment cooperation, enhance connectivity, promote rapprochement between peoples, and advance the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The NPC hopes to intensify exchanges with the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan to ensure legal guarantees for Chinese-Azerbaijani practical cooperation, Zhao Leji said.

S. Gafarova, for her part, assured that the Azerbaijani side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in all areas, as well as deepen inter-parliamentary exchanges.

During his meeting with R. Sklyar, Zhao Leji stated that China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors connected by shared mountains and rivers, as well as eternal comprehensive strategic partners who deeply trust each other.

Zhao Leji continued that China is ready to work with the Kazakh side to implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state, strengthen the foundation of political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, focusing on the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road, enrich the content of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and strengthen coordination and cooperation in the international arena, in order to promote the development of Chinese-Kazakh relations at a higher level, in a broader area, and in a deeper manner.

The NPC intends to play an active role as a legislative body in promoting the strengthening of Chinese-Kazakh friendship, Zhao Leji added.

R. Sklyar, for his part, indicated that Kazakhstan supports a number of global initiatives put forward by China, noting that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, Kazakh-Chinese relations continue to deepen. He stated that Kazakhstan is ready to work with China to strengthen cooperation in various areas, such as lawmaking, economics, trade, and energy, and to advance the development of bilateral relations.

During a meeting with BAF board members and senior advisers, Zhao Leji emphasized that China expects to work with all parties to implement the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee assured that China will continue to support the development of the BAF. He noted that it is essential to remain true to the forum's original goals, continually keep pace with the times, and adhere to openness and inclusiveness. China stands ready to work with other countries to jointly build a clean, beautiful, and sustainable world, Zhao Leji added.
