BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) — Ren Yuzhong, former vice-president of Peking University, has been charged with accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China said on Wednesday.

The investigation into Ren Yuzhong, suspected of serious violations of party discipline and the law, was announced in an official statement in September 2025 after he voluntarily surrendered to authorities. The State Supervisory Commission completed the investigation and forwarded its findings to the prosecutor's office for further investigation.

The prosecutor's indictment states that Ren Yuzhong, while holding various positions at Peking University over the years, including as a member of the university's standing committee, abused his authority and official position to benefit third parties, receiving from them in exchange monetary and material assets on an especially large scale.

Ren Yuzhong's case was transferred from the Dandong City People's Procuratorate in Northeast China's Liaoning Province to the city's Intermediate People's Court. -0-
