High-quality development of foreign trade is inextricably linked to the continuous improvement of trade facilitation. In response to recent changes in the international trade environment, on March 16, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, together with 24 agencies (organizations), including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Commerce, announced the launch of a six-month cross-border trade facilitation campaign in 2026.
Sun Meijun, Director General of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, announced at a meeting held the same day to launch the campaign that the number of pilot cities this year will be expanded compared to last year. Twenty new cities have been added to the list: Hohhot, Changchun, Suzhou, Jinhua, Quanzhou, Nanchang, Yantai, Wuhan, Changsha, Zhuhai, Nanning, Kunming, Xi'an, and others. This brings the total number of cities participating in the campaign to 45.
Specifically, within the framework of key objectives to optimize and modernize trade in goods, actively develop trade in services, and innovatively advance digital and "green" trade, this year's campaign developed a new package of 29 policy measures aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of foreign trade. Key measures include innovations in customs supervision and management, optimization of services for new forms of foreign trade, increased efficiency of cross-border logistics, promotion of digital and intelligent border crossings, strengthening standardization connectivity, and improving integrated services for enterprises.
