TEHRAN, March 22 (Xinhua) — An Iranian international relations expert said on Saturday that Iran attacked a nuclear facility in the southern Israeli town of Dimona earlier in the day in retaliation for Israel's strike on Iran's Natanz nuclear facility.
Morteza Simiari made the statement live on state-run IRIB television, commenting on Iran's retaliatory missile strike on an Israeli city.
He said the attack came less than 24 hours after Israel "crazily" struck a target in Natanz in the central province of Isfahan.
M. Simiari said Iran's new "tit-for-tat" strategy entails retaliatory action, but with greater intensity, against any military action taken by Israel. According to Israeli medical officials, more than 30 people were injured in the Iranian missile strike on Dimona.
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there was no evidence of damage to Israel's Negev nuclear research center as a result of the missile attack on Dimona.
