Jerusalem/Beirut, March 22 (Xinhua) — Israeli warplanes hit the Al-Qasmiya Bridge over the Litani River on Sunday as part of a new wave of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.
The Israeli army confirmed the strikes, stating that they targeted Hezbollah positions. Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to "immediately" destroy all bridges over the Litani River used by the movement.
On Sunday, an Israeli was killed by a Hezbollah rocket near the Israeli-Lebanese border. This marks the first civilian death from shelling from Lebanese territory since the start of the US-Israeli attacks on Iran. Earlier this month, two Israeli soldiers were killed in Lebanon.
