BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) — The number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure facilities in China continued to grow rapidly, reaching 21.01 million by the end of February this year, up 47.8 percent year-on-year, according to data released Saturday by the National Energy Administration.

The above-mentioned devices include 4.834 million public facilities, which is 28.8 percent more year-on-year.

By the end of last month, the number of private charging stations reached 16.176 million units, a 54.6 percent increase year-on-year and indicating a significant increase in demand for such charging stations in populated areas.

The data, released on the national charging infrastructure monitoring and maintenance platform, highlights the continued expansion of China's electric vehicle support network amid a surge in sales of such vehicles.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the country's production of new energy vehicles gained momentum in 2025, with production and sales reaching 16.626 million and 16.49 million units, respectively, an increase of 29 percent and 28.2 percent year-on-year.

In October 2025, China unveiled a three-year action plan to improve the country's EV charging infrastructure, aiming to build a nationwide network of 28 million chargers with a total capacity of over 300 million kW by the end of 2027. -0-
